Word of the Day
I was thinking that we should have something daily to look forward to. A daily book review would be to lengthy. Maybe a daily book quote? Hmm.. I'll actually probably do that next! But now, I think I'll do a Word of the Day. Our first word is...

Storybird's Summer Writing Club
Mrs. Leighton introduced Storybird to us this school year that has just ended. Since then, I have created a personal, non-school use account and go on it quite often. Today, I found something amazing on Storybird... A Summer Writing Club!
Here are some very detailed instructions to find the Summer Writing Club...
1. Go to www.storybird.com
2. Log in or create an account if you don't have one already.
3. Once you have logged in, click the button in the top left corner that says "Read"
4. There should be another set of buttons just below the set where the "Read" button was. In this new set, there is a button that says "Blog". Click on that button.
5. Scroll down until you find the post that says "Welcome to the Summer Writing Club". Click on and read that post.
6. Once you are finished reading that post, click on the link that says "Click here to get started on the first prompt". The link should be at the very end of the "Welcome to the Summer Writing Club" post.
7. Read the post that came up from clicking "Click here to get started on the first prompt".

Summer Reading Goals
Hello everyone! Sorry that it has been FOREVER since the last post, but now that it's summer, everyone has a lot more time on their hands and hopefully I'll be able to post more often.
I thought that I'd start by asking if anyone had any Summer Reading Goals. I do! I want to read every book that I own that I have NOT read before. But, I also have three book lists and a list of books that I made that the Ellsworth Public Library has that I want to read. So many books, not enough time...
If you'd like, you can post in the comments any Summer Reading Goals that you may have. If not, that's okay!
I would also like to congratulate Reilly and Taylor for graduating! I hope you two keep checking out the blog because Katie, Mrs. Leighton, and myself will keep posting! If we have book club next year, I hope you stop by for a visit.

Book Review: Pi in The Sky
Hello! This is Lucy and I'm so glad you are reading my second book review ever! Enjoy!
Have you ever looked through a telescope and seen all the beautiful stars at night? Maybe you have. Maybe you haven't. But I bet you have never wondered about what you didn't see through that telescope.
Joss is what seems like an ordinary boy. He goes to school, has some annoying brothers, and has the seemingly unimportant job of delivering pies. That's right; pies.
Well, Joss isn't ordinary. He is in fact the Seventh Son of the Supreme Overlord of the Universe. So, that means he has to put up with six annoying older brothers. And those pies I mentioned earlier? Those pies contain the essential ingredients to create other planets, stars, and galaxies. Everyone where he lives is immortal. And yet he still has to go to school.
Joss lives in The Realms. The Realms is in dark matter, which is a lot of the universe. People who live there only have to eat and sleep every once in a while. They have been there longer then we have, so their bodies are made of material that was here at the beginning of the universe, so they are softer than we are. They can rearrange their molecules to be anything, like having wheels instead of legs and feet. Sort of like the people, buildings can be anything they want to be. Everything is pretty amazing in The Realms. And there are so many more cool things I haven't even told you about!
Everything is pretty normal until this one particular day. Kal is Joss's best friend. Kal's parents work as OnWorlders, so Kal stays with Aunt Rae. Joss goes to Aunt Rae's house. Joss was going to pick up a pie Aunt Rae had made. But while he was there, the siren goes off. It means someone outside of The Realms is looking in their direction. Aunt Rae has terrible hearing, so she doesn't hear it and keeps doing what she's doing instead of ducking like she's supposed too. Someone sees her. Someone on Earth who was looking through a telescope. And there are humongous consequences.
Normally, they blow a planet up. But everyone is too fond of Earth with it's long list of life forms and with so many planets nearby they just couldn't do that. So they took the entire Solar System out of time. With Kal's parents on it. Soon after, Kal disappears, since his parents now really never existed. In his place stands a girl. From Earth.
Now everyone is confused and the girl, named Annika, is too. And on top of that Joss is given the job of bringing Earth and it's Solar System back exactly the way it was. He faces this crazy adventure with Annika at his side, even though it takes a while for Joss to warm up to her.
So, will they succeed in bring Kal and Annika's home back? Or will they fail after trying with all the effort they could?
My favorite part is when Annika first comes and Joss gets to know her. Joss finds out that she can be bossy and demanding, but she can also be caring and understanding if you dig deep enough. Their journey together is an unforgettable one.
This story shows that teamwork is the best work, you have to believe in yourself and who you are, and most of all, friendship will stand the test of time and across all galaxies.
Pi in The Sky is a 244 page book written by one of my favorite authors, Wendy Mass. I recommend this book to people who like Sci-Fi, but not scary Sci-Fi. It is also a great book if you like books that make you think. You will never forget this book.
Wendy Mass does a great job narrating as Joss, especially she doesn't know what it's like being a teenage boy! It had perfect amounts of everything, emotion, thoughts, dialogue, everything.
In conclusion I want to thank you for reading this book review and hope if you read this book, you enjoy it! Wendy Mass is a fantastic author so if you see a book by her, take a look at it!
